Project 3245 is an interior design project for a premium apartment at Kochi’s Marine Drive. The design grew out of a set of strong limitations from the building system itself. The structure was already fixed, and the furniture arrangement the client wanted was very different from the one suggested by the builder. At the same time, the services such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical lines had to be worked around carefully, without disturbing the basic framework of the apartment.
Instead of treating these restrictions as problems, the design used them as a starting point. The walls, ceilings, storage units, and partitions were reworked to create a home that feels more flexible, more comfortable, and more natural to live in. This gave the apartment a new set of vertical and horizontal surfaces, which were then shaped into a quiet mix of materials and textures. Some surfaces are reflective, some absorb light, some feel warm, and some feel smooth or solid. This contrast gives the apartment depth without making it feel heavy.
A self-imposed colour palette was used throughout the project to keep everything connected. Wood tones, soft neutrals, stone-like finishes, and carefully placed accent colours bring balance across the rooms. The living, dining, and private spaces all follow the same calm language, so the apartment feels continuous from one end to the other.
The result is a home that feels refined but still very liveable. It is shaped not by excess, but by careful decisions. Every surface, opening, and material choice works together to create a space that is practical, warm, and quietly elegant.
