The Jackson’s Experience Centre is a master plan scheme that envisions a phase wise environment centric development of the existing 10 acre Jacson’s campus at Kakkanad, Kochi. The vision of the project aligns with and takes advantage of the natural order of this heavily contoured site and uses the same to create a developing campus with the possibilities to reach out to the communities around, particularly to the designers and the younger generation.
The onset of a new proposed nature trail in the campus begins with a public front including an experience centres co working space and public canteen. The trail is designed to develop into a future arbatorium, special plant species for butterfly park, bee harvesting etc. along with water harvesting swails. This trail will encompass the entire campus and loop back at the experience centre, thereby weaving the campus into one.
The oldest structure is re-purposed into a life museum of the Jackson brand and the central zone the campus is a series of open spaces which are interlinked to provide a vibrant incubation space for ideas and collaborations in future: a design street, a designers’ plaza, and a large event plaza as a part of this centre. The north east part of the campus is a large eco zone developed by careful environmental engineering and by increasing the water harvesting possibilities on campus. This area is a natural catchment zone to the surface run-off as well as channel rain water from multiple buildings on campus. This also leads to an elaborate food forest which works in tandem with the ground water percolation and other harvesting techniques.
